Welcoming Gifts From a Sweetheart

Evelyn and Pearl got presents, today, from my friend, Amy, who was sweet enough to send a care package in anticipation of Pearl's arrival! Amy quilts, SHE HAS SAMOYEDS and she BLOGS!!

We must have been separated at birth. The biggest difference is that I have my "girls" and she has her "boys," Riley and Sonny. That, and she lives way up in the frozen north which automatically makes her tons tougher than I am.

She went way overboard!

I let Evelyn open her gifts but we are waiting for little Pearl to get home, tomorrow, to open hers.

Thanks, Aunt Amy!!

Thanks, Riley!!

Thanks, Sonny!

And here is a peek at my latest project:

To say that I am jazzed about it is an understatement. I am making black and white paper pieced blocks with just a touch of color in each one. The one you seen in process is not going to end up with different colors on the block. I just put those there to see how I liked it. My plan is to stick to the blacks/white and grays with just a highlight of color. In some of the blocks, I will add some complimentary colors in the same colorway but probably no more than three per block. My thought now, is to make 18 paper pieced blocks (with alternating setting blocks) in a horizontal pattern. I will probably sash it and currently plan to use 6 different paperpieced patterns repeated three times. I have no idea how fast this project will go since Pearl will arrive on the scene, tomorrow.

Early to bed, tonight. We hit the road at 6:00 a.m. so we can be tapping on the breeder's door at 9:00. With any good luck, we'll have pictures of the little darling by tomorrow night.

Thanks, again, Amy!

It's almost time to go get lil miss Pearl. Think you'll be too excited to sleep tonight? Can't wait to see all the pics of her, and her and Evelyn together.
