Stitching on Sunday

Husband is out of town for several days and while I am not thrilled about it, I looked forward to spending the afternoon working on the Oklahoma block from Carol Doak's Fifty Stars book. In fact, I figured I could get TWO blocks done. The cabbie hauled off husband at 1:30 and I was upstairs in my sewing room within five minutes. For some reason I thought the Oklahoma block would come together easily, even though I knew it had a zillion pieces. Take a look at this pattern:

It took a lot of work.

Five hours later ... Here she is!

Please stop looking at the catty wompas seams. After all that work, it should be perfect. Frankly, it is amazing it is even completed. Normally, it takes me about 1.5 hours per block. Of course, some are easier than others.

Kentucky has 40 pieces.

So does Pennsylvania.

China has only 48 pieces but looks pretty fancy, to me.

Indiana has 54 pieces.

Japan has 56 separate pieces.

Netherlands has 56 pieces.

Israel has 56 pieces.

Oklahoma has...

120 pieces!!!

Notwithstanding that it is far from perfect, I am pretty happy with it. Will I do it, again - NOT LIKELY!!!

Here they are in a group.

I want to show you a picture of Ms. Jezebel.

So she see the fringe at the bottom her lip where the hair has come in? She is making progress.

She pretty much made herself scarse while I stitched but trusty Evelyn was right there with me.

I'm starved.

120 pieces!?! The blocks look great. Glad to hear Jezebel is on the mend - her muzzle looks much better.

That block is stunning! And I'm afraid you may be crazy to even attempt it. Good thing you're husband is out of town, that may be the block the forced him to call the men in white coats. Seriously, it's a block to be proud of and definately deserves the center of the quilt.
