IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!

My backup vacuum cleaner is a piece of *&@#^%!$,

Because it won't pick up anything, I can't get the place clean, which means it is a waste of time to bring in Rug Doctor, the fun activity I'd planned for tomorrow.  So I called my realtor and asked her if we could have someone come in and clean the carpet after we left and she said, "NO PROBLEM."

As husband says, "just add money."

That means I can quit driving myself around the bend trying to keep the dogs from getting the place dirty.  It is (as always) a mudhole outside.  I wipe their feet but it still gets on the carpet.  Usually, I have my steamer and get after the carpet at least 3 - 4 times a month - more often in the mud season which is most of the time, seems like.  But the steamer is too big for the car so was sent ahead to Oklahoma.  I could have been cleaning and packing.  Instead, I have been wiping feet and fretting.   I will still wipe feet but knowing that it doesn't have to be perfect will free me up to focus on finishing up cleaning the baseboard, corners, kitchen and laundry room floor, and refrigerator.  So all of a sudden, things shifted and I am suddenly at the point where the hardest job is done.  Only little piddling things, now.

Then we can go.

Happy Quilting,

Penny, Evelyn and Pearl

Aha! TOLD you that's what Merry Maids are for!

Yeah, just add money, but subtract pressure and chaos.

You've turned a corner, that is great, now try to relax a bit and enjoy the adventure.

I tried so hard to clean our old house completely before I left. I got so tired that on the 6 hour drive to our new home I had to keep stopping and buy coffee - not good when I was on a busy, wet motorway.

Go out today, take the dogs somewhere nice to say 'goodbye' to the place, and husband is right "it's only money", pay someone else to clean that damn floor!

I'm so glad you didn't leave this week, Penny, but you better skedaddle soon before the next storm comes!

Ah, vacuums and floor cleaning before you move out are overrated anyhow! The people who owned our house before us only believed in cleaning half the floors and left one coated in cat hair. My poor mother (very allergic) nearly died when she was helping me unpack.

Seems like you deserve a day off to get all rested for the long drive back home. Safe travels to you Penny, and your hubby and the girls. :)
