Round Robin and My Quilting Buddy

Evelyn really is a spectacular Quilting Buddy.

She is a bit like a rug.

Here she is with her own Samoyed Webkin.

I am working on a Paper Pieced Round Robin Challenge Quilt from the HGTV Message Board. For those who don't know what a Round Robin is, you add borders to a center block and each border is a "round." Round Robins are typically medallion quilts which means they have a center block surrounded by borders.

In this challenge, we could create any center block we wanted, any size, any color, any pattern - it just had to be paper pieced.

The first "round" had to have paper pieced corners.

The second "round" (which I just finished) called for the use of diamonds in the centers of the next border. We could have made it as fancy as we wanted, including doing another corner, as well, but I am deliberately keeping it simple. I will probably pick one of the rounds down the way and make it fancy and intricate. But I think if I make it too busy on each round, it will look too dense.

I spent some time this morning attaching a binding to Jezebel's Quilt (the blue and yellow quilt I made when I was actively grieving for Jezebel at Christmas, last year). A picture is on the right hand side of the blog. I've come a long way in healing but it is still so hard. Then later this afternoon, one of the members of my Samoyed owners group unexpectedly lost their good dog, Muddy. We met Muddy in March of this year. He was a real character with a wonderfully expressive face and parents who adored him. I feel so bad for them. In fact, I shudder to remember how painful losing a good dog can be.

But on a happier note, here's Pearl in her typical dozing spot on the couch.

Isn't she a doll?

As always, such beautiful pictures of your girls.

Love how your quilt is coming on. I have never made a medallion quilt even though I keep meaning to. Yours is gorgeous - I may have to select some fabric, immitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that {ha ha}.

Saddened to hear about Muddy - our own grief is still too ever present.

Cher, I stopped by your blog and tried to leave a comment but the configuration wouldn't let me enter it - don't know if that is on my end or yours. Loved the banner and hope your husband's job situation improves, soon! Pinching pennies sucks - been there, done that.

Love the doggie photos. I used to have a dog that was part basenji and he used to sleep with a tiny giraffe stuffed animal. Of course, yours is cuter because the toy looks like the dog! I am glad you are one of the people who allows the dog ON the furniture!

I love the photos of the your dog! I am a huge Samoyed fan, and hope to get my own someday. I have the same stuffed animal that is in some of the photos. I would love to have my dog sleep with my Samoyed stuffed animal, but I'm afraid he would just chew it up; he's still pretty young. He's not a Samoyed, American Eskimo actually, which I do love very much as well, but I absolutely love the Samoyed breed. Wonderful work on the quilts as well.
