Working at Home With the Girls
Slow work day (yeah!) so I actually got to play in my sewing room this afternoon. I cleaned my Beloved Janome, filled bobbins and worked on the April BOM from the HGTV message board. I am so out of practice that I messed it up. I destroyed the flying geese! I need to decide if I am going to go redo them.
The girls were angels. They each had a kong and hung out in the sewing room with me. Pearl was amazingly good and Evelyn just looked so relaxed. She has always enjoyed crashing out while I putter around and she seemed happy to see me piecing. For some inexplicable reason, the song "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" was stuck in my head. I'm thinking the guys who recorded that never thought some little old lady would be humming it while working on a pink and green quilt block.
I've been watching the news, this evening, and Midwest City and Choctaw (near Oklahoma City) are on fire. The news is just awful. Many homes have burned to the ground. I feel so sorry for those people. Our house seems okay but grassfires in Oklahoma can be pretty treacherous.
Here are a bunch of pictures I took, today.

Looks like you had a good day. What's a kong? Let's hope this wind dies down today and we get some major rain soon (just not all at once). Last night our eyes were burning because of all the smoke and you can't really even see the sky at all.
Those poor people in MWC & Choctaw...it's just awful.
Whenever I give my Abbey her Kong she works at it til it's all gone then gives a great big sigh of happiness...and sleeps like the dead. Love those things!
And your stash....sigh...may I just say I may have some envy in my soul for all that fabric! :)

So, is Pearl singing yet? I know she did a little as a puppy but has she discovered her full voice yet?

What do you put in the girls' Kongs? My dog Mollie has one that's shaped like a dogbone, with long holes in the ends that I put little milk bones into. I've also put peanut butter in there for her; that keeps her busy a little longer than the bones.
Yes, your stash gives me cause for envy, too. I could just look at it, feel it, and admire it all day!
Hope you had a wonderful Easter. I love your "quilting companions!" The fires were terrible and so many people face devastating losses. We had a small fire on our country road but it was quickly put out by our volunteer fire dept. We are so thankful for rain yesterday. But there's the possibility of severe weather later in the week. You know how it is in Oklahoma during storm season!!
