Christmas Shopping

For thirty years, I Christmas shopped with my best girl friend.  Then, for ten long years while we lived on the East Coast, we didn't get to do that.  Today, girlfriend drove two hours to come shop with me (she'd finished her shopping but came anyway) and we ate lunch at the restaurant we always used to go to, giggled and shopped like we were still twenty years old.

We've eaten out with family 3 of the past 4 nights (husband is currently at his step mom's birthday party but I am home babysitting the girls who we don't yet trust to be left alone).  Last night, I needed something from my sister-in-law and simply got in my car and drove to their house. I crossed town in 20 minutes during rush hour.

It all feels so NORMAL.  Hard to believe.

I have my Christmas tree up but not yet decorated.  Most of my shopping is done.  We have made enormous progress on unpacking and the girls are settling in beautifully.  The girls fussed over my girlfriend when she arrived and Pearl made a complete pest of herself.  Girlfriend went on and on about what a nice girl Evelyn is.  Ahem.  Pearl did not come in for the same sort of praise, the wee heathen.

The East Coast is being threatened with up to two feet of snow and I worry about my neighbors.  Here?  Sunny days in the fifties and sixties.  Of course, we could get hit with an ice storm just like that but so far, we are enjoying typical Oklahoma December weather.  I am so happy to not have to constantly have to wipe mud off the girls.  It is good to be home.

Hope to meet some of my online quilting buddies in the next month.

Happy Quilting,

Penny, Evelyn and Pearl

Sounds like you are doing great Penny! You have a lot of energy...

Last night I saw on the news how terrible the weather is in the East and I said a prayer of thanks that you got out of there in the nick of time!

I know how you felt to be able to spend the day with your friend! It is a long time in between me getting to see my best friend Debbie who lives in OK...When we do get to see each other, everything just comes flooding back!
