We have had balmy weather around here. It has been in the 70's for the past two days. It is warmer outside than it is in the house. Until I moved back east, I did not realize that snow did not typically flow horizontally. Who knew it could drift down straight???? For that matter, in Oklahoma, none of the fallen leaves in your yard actually originated there.
Speaking on winter, I don't know how those northerners do it. They must be insane (and tough) to live up on the Northern Plains, near the lakes, no less. On a message board, today, there was a poem posted that I really liked. No credit was given to the author but I hope they don't mind my sharing:
Winter time in Wisconsin!
It's winter time in Wisconsin
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Wisconsin
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Wisconsin
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!
Let's hear it for those masochistic northern folks who I am certain could whup Bigfoot. Hell, they could MARRY him!
And in the interest of continuing to promote the literary arts, the following is a haiku posted by Brien Helme on a Bigfoot hoax message board:
Bigfoot Haiku
Bigfoot, he saw me.
Grabbed me and ran far away.
I'll be his boy toy.
I think that pretty much says it all. Northerners are not only tough, they have the fortitude and abilty to adjust to harrowing circumstances, especially when it is bitterly cold.
